Vitamin Sea… Part … Food.

I know what you’re thinking. Can you really take one post to only talk about food?? Okay friends. If you know us, we love food. I mean LOVE food. We love going to restaurants. We treat it as an experience, and plan our vacations around where we are going to eat. So yes, I can totally make a post about allllll the food. Here are our favorite places to eat on the island!

Clayton’s Coffee Shop

I love being on vacation and going on early morning walks. Everything is so serene and you feel like you’re the only ones there. The day before, we saw this coffee shop and it always had line (even in the afternoon), so we figured we’d try it out. There was a cute window on the side of the building to order from, with both food and drink options! They had quick and friendly staff. The coffee was really good, Nick enjoyed it and he’s picky with his coffee!

After coffee, we wanted to go have breakfast. There was a place we spotted the day before that looked really good but they weren’t open yet. So, to Google I went! The first thing that popped up was Clayton’s for breakfast! I thought for a second, the coffee shop?? I looked around the corner and a line was starting to form out the door. Claytons had a diner! So we stood in line and waited about 10 minutes and we were seated at the bar. I loved this place, it took you straight back into the 50’s. From the theme, the music, and the servers style; it took you right back to those simple times. The service was great, the breakfast was fantastic and this place will always be on our list to hit up whenever we come back!

Stake Chophouse and Bar

If permitted, we always like to make sure we visit one Steakhouse whenever on vacation. We love the experience! These are places where you are able to take your time, relax and not feel rushed. Stake did not disappoint. We sat on the patio (which was on the second story) and the weather was perfect. Our server’s name was Dallas. Now, normally I don’t remember these details, but she gave us an amazing experience there. Plus, I really liked that name for a girl! Nick and I have a usual game plan when we visit a steakhouse. One of us will order the filet and the other will order the lobster and we will split the two meals. It works perfect for us. It was happy hour so we also ordered a couple sides that were on the HH menu too. It was a perfect, relaxing dinner and another place to add to the list!

Bluewater Boathouse

This is our favorite restaurant on the island. We visited the Boathouse about 5 years ago (the last time we were in Coronado). Primarily a seafood restaurant, this place is wonderful in many aspects. The food is amazing and at a decent price. Every employee there is super friendly, and (as you can see in the picture) the restaurant sits over the water. We were lucky enough to have a seat right next to the water, so we got to watch the sail boats pull in and out of the bay. The Boathouse is great because it was across the street from our hotel. This made for a quick walk for us which was great after a day already full of walking! I would highly recommend this place whether you are staying in Coronado or you want to take a drive over the bridge from San Diego!

On top of these places, we also had lunch at the Burger Lounge (where I enjoyed the best veggie burger I have ever tasted) and McP’s Irish Pub, where Nick enjoyed a Guinness. Here is where we also watched the Redsox dominate! If you have a sweet tooth, head over to Mootime Creamery, for some decadent dessert concoctions and the best homemade ice cream on the island!

I’m sure there are plenty of amazing places we missed, but these are definitely at the top of our list! We’ll definitely have to try others next time! Where are some of your favorite vacation food spots?
